If you’ve read through this blog you may know my family and I lived in Houston before we moved to Austin. We only lived there three years but made so many wonderful friends and have a lifetime of sweet memories. These sweet people are some of those friends. It was so fun to become parents together (their girl is a little younger than our boy) and now to watch them become parents to a new little guy. They are such a sweet family full of love and warmth. Thanks so much S family…we love you!

Robin and I have been spending time with each other every week. She’s helping me to get in shape and she’s doing a great job. Fun and motivating…a great personal trainer and a great person. I love meeting new families and I love meeting new families in places that mean something to them. I met up with the O family in a greenbelt near their home. Mom and little guy spend time there often and it was so fun to explore it with them. They are such a fun and loving family and I can’t wait to meet the new baby very soon.

When I meet up with families a year after doing a newborn session I’m always amazed. The growth and development that happens in one year is awe inspiring. It always forces me to reflect on my own two…how they’ve changed and grown in the previous year. What a difference a year makes…you can see this boy’s newborn session here.

Mom asked me to photograph his first birthday cake smash too. This was so fun! And this guy dove right in and made us all laugh.

phew…it’s been a crazy few weeks. My camera is in the shop, but should be returned to me this week. I’m so excited to get it back. In the meantime I had a session in Houston with a dear friend. This couple was one of the first couples who let me practice on them when I was just starting out…almost 5 years ago! It’s hard to believe it’s been that long. Little E will be 5 soon! I can not wait to capture little brother when he makes his appearance. Also, I could not have done this session without another friend, Erin Smith, who loaned me her camera. It’s time for my 26 Friday post again! It seems like this year is flying by. 26 Fridays is a group of photographers who are posting images based on a theme every other week this year. We link to each other so be sure to check them out. This week’s theme is look up, look down. When I first thought about this theme I thought no problem…I’ve got this. But when I tried to capture my kids in this way it was difficult. My son is in this phase where he makes funny faces for the camera and he’s very aware of it. My daughter is perpetually in motion so also hard to capture. Then my camera started acting a bit wonky so I had to do this quickly. (My camera is in the shop right now.) So here it is. My girl playing with one of her dolls (the doll is always undressed). She loves to put the baby to sleep on my son’s old nap mat. It always makes me smile when I see this. I love how much she loves on the doll and know she gets that from all the people in her life that love her.

I included the next two because I think they’re cute. I love her concentration in these.

shadow | 26 Fridays

It’s another 26 Fridays post. If you’re unfamiliar, a group of photographers are posting every other Friday on a theme. This week’s theme is shadows. Again this was a tough theme for me and now that it’s Thursday evening my mind is racing with ideas for more images with shadows. I had planned something different for this theme but felt very drawn to this image. It represents my girl so much to me right now. She dresses herself most days so the patterns are always mixed, she loves (and I mean LOVES) flip flops, and has just enough hair for a tiny ponytail (I love that the shadow highlights this). This is all her and I adore it all and her. She definitely has my heart.

Several weeks ago I met this family for a maternity session and I met them last week after their baby boy arrived. They waited until his arrival to know if he was a boy or girl so they dubbed him Cranberry in utero. Isn’t he adorable! I adore capturing families in their homes.
