Isn’t he adorable! His parents have fallen hard for him and it’s so easy to see why. He almost makes me miss my kids’ newborn days. It’s really nice to be able to get my baby fix this way.

In April, my dad and his sister organized a family reunion of their families on Easter weekend. It’s strange to call it a family reunion because when we were kids our families frequently saw each other even though my aunt and her family lived in Georgia and we in Mississippi. My aunt, my uncle and their three daughters would visit Mississippi because that’s where my grandparents lived and where my aunt grew up. I remember those times fondly. We all stair stepped in age…my oldest brother, my oldest cousin, my middle brother, my middle cousin, me and then my younger cousin. We had not seen seem them all since my grandmother passed away several years ago and I was thrilled to be able to visit them with my family. I took lots of pictures and they are basically just snapshots but I felt this was too great not to share.

Many times parents become anxious during sessions because the kids are excited. They’re in a new place and want to explore or have no interest in the camera. However the images always turn out beautifully. Kids are themselves no matter what I do and I try and capture that. I know this family pretty well and the boys weren’t as interested in a session as mom was. :) But we had fun, explored the park, picked some blackberries and made beautiful images.

I have enjoyed bluebonnet season so much this year. This family specifically wanted images in the bluebonnets and I’m so glad they did. We had a blast playing in the flowers and I loved capturing them and their sweet spirits. What a gift to be able to capture this time in their lives!

Cash is one of the most adorable almost 2 year olds I know. I think my girl thinks so too. Cash and my girl are in preschool together and she’s been very excited as I process these images. This is my second time photographing Cash’s family. They are so fun and full of love for each other. And Cash has got the biggest, most beautiful eyes that in my opinion scream for black and white images. All of these I adore in black and white.
