I’ve been reminded of how little I post of my own two so here they are. I’m attempting to take one good shot a week of them this year. Doesn’t sound too hard but can be a little overwhelming. I’ve decided not to put too too much pressure on myself. Some weeks you’ll see them. These were taken last week. they are my world.

I am part of a new group of photographers who are posting images based on a theme every two weeks.  This week’s theme is light.  I’ve been playing more with light and shadows indoors so I thought these were fitting.  Also this boy is such a light in our lives.  He loves everyone he meets and is such a joy.  I love this boy so much.

Please visit the blogs of the other photographer’s in my group.  First up is Ginger of  Fernbird Photography here.  Her site is gorgeous!

Love these, Callie! So fun and full of light! Your little guy is adorable!

  • Callie, I love redheads!! He is precious, and I love the life in his eyes which we call light! Great capture of him.

  • Kami

Great shots Callie. Having a boy myself I know the feeling of joy they bring. He looks like a happy boy!

  • Pamela Joye

minimal & subtle. these are the two words that came to mind. both allow for such an exploration of the light filled frames and both draw me to the eyes, the expression & that hair! it’s colorful in an all white/light monochromatic kind of way.

  • Myra buby

classic yet joyful and relaxed. love your son’s expression and the way the light falls on his skin.

There’s something about capturing families in their homes.  There’s a familiarity with their surroundings and their love for each other really shines through.  The more I shoot in homes the more I love it.  This little family of three is about to become a family of four and they wanted to document the three of them plus their dogs before the new baby arrives.  We originally planned for an outdoor session but switched indoors when it was just too cold.  I’m really glad we did.  Since they signed up for my maternity/newborn package you’ll see more of them soon.

I love when clients choose a location or locations that have meaning to them!  It’s always so fun to me and them.  For this session, this family chose to start off at their home, shoot a few with their sweet dogs and then head to a few places in Austin.  We had a blast.  G wasn’t too sure at first but when I told him he could hop on the very cool tire swing first, he got more into the session.  🙂

Monday morning was so cold when I met up with the F family for a session.  The day before Austin temps were in the 80s.  The next morning we hovered around the low 40s for the session.  They handled it like champs though and snuggled up to each other.  Other than being a tad chilly we had a great time playing!  Aren’t they a beautiful family!
